Caring for a VC grave

As part of our long term care plan for each Victoria Cross grave we work on, we need to find people locally that are willing to tend and care for each grave plot, on a long term basis. This does not include cleaning of the headstone as this should only be carried out by professionals; we are looking for people who can offer general maintenance for the grave by way of weeding and keeping the plot clean and tidy.

The most important element of any Victoria Cross grave care, is that we gain access to the church yard or cemetery to carry out the work with the full knowledge and permission of the grave owner and/or any know family.

To facilitate our care plans we have teamed up with Tendagrave to help co-ordinate and manage willing volunteers.

All of the Victoria Cross graves that are in need of tending, will be listed on the Tendagrave website and volunteers will need to register on that site. Please do not email us asking if there are any graves in your area, all available graves are listed on the Tendagrave website.

If there are no graves close to you, please be patient, as there is usually a lot of work to be done before the ‘tending stage’. To register with us to care for a Victoria Cross grave please register with Tendagrave. Thank you for your interest in the Victoria Cross Trust and the valuable work we carry out.
