The Victoria Cross Trust, who run two shops in Frenchgate Doncaster to raise funds in support of restoration of military graves and memorials have been awarded Business of the year for the second time in three years. Although they are a charity, their management of the trading business that produces their funds has been recognised for its contribution to the armed forces community, Doncaster's heritage and support of veterans and cadets.
The charity has also been nominated for the prestigious Kings Award for Voluntary Service and awaits the outcome later this month. The VCT is also a gold awardee of the Armed Forces Covenant Employer Recognition Scheme.
Run by a team of volunteers, the charity has raised sufficient funds to complete over 200 memorials since March this year including war memorials across Doncaster. The Doncaster for Valour event on 10th November organised by the charity will take place in the Corn Exchange starting at 10am.
