Cottrell Brothers Guiseley

The family grave of the Cottrell brothers received some much needed attention from the team in July. The beautiful white marble carving of Jesus with a Cross had discoloured and was in need of steam cleaning.

The Cottrell brothers served in the WW1 - Albert and Harry were killed side by side at Gallipoli. Albert was wounded and Harry immediately helped his brother by trying to dress his wounds. Both were then shot by a sniper and died side by side. Brother William who served in the US Army was killed in October 1918 shortly before the end of the war.

Paying tribute for their service we cleaned the memorial watched by a local business HIPCO and members of the Friends of Guiseley Cemetery.

Lest We Forget.
